Quest details: Looking for sites that have _at least_ 1GB of free general file storage, preferrably more. Not sites that are specific to one file type such as Flickr.

  1. Uploadpower allows users without webspace of their own to upload images and files to share with others. These uploads can be linked to from anywhere - forums, chat rooms, message boards, eBay, blogs, and even your own website.

  10. I really like this, tho some dont like the pop ups.   On a good note, most pop up blockers work to block.

  11. "Listible has a list of online services on file storage. The list currently stays at 93 sites - many for you to choose from. Most of them are free and easy to use. You can use them to send big files, or backup your documentations. Some services can be accessed from your web browser, others may have a client program for you to auto-backup your hard drive. I personally like the Mozy Remote Backup, which provides 2GB of free backup space. Best of all, you can access an encryption key for your account for adding security and protect privacy for your files. I have included the list here by its javascript feature:"

  12. Select the file or files you wish to upload or use the DownloadURL feature. Choose the options best suited for your upload (password protect, description, email notification).

  13. Upload anything you like with confidence. Your file will remain here for as long as you choose. We have a dedicated server running this website purely for file hosting, making this the best possible file hosting service.

  15. Strongspace is a secure place to gather, store, back-up and share any type of file with your co-workers, friends and family. You can upload, download and manage your files over SFTP (Secure FTP) or with any modern web browser. Secure, but not free so..

  16. 2GB of space free but it's more of a backup service than a file storage/sharing service.

Great for sending or storing up to 1GB free. More storage and data/month available for a fee.

Mozy & Box

For backup purposes I definately second Mozy. The data is encrypted so you don’t have to worry about people spying on your stuff. If you need more then 2 GB, Mozy has some real affordable pay options ($1.95 for 5GB, $4.95 for 30GB, and $9.95 for 60GB). The BEST thing I have found about Mozy over other competing places is the backup client that automatically will run at set intervals so you don’t have to remember. It is free… what do you have to lose?

Box has a nice feature set for collaborating on files as you can add "friends" and then share your file library with them. http://box.net/ , but for additional space they are way more expensive (5gb fo 5 bucks a month)

File sharing

bbb888's picture

For a quick and easy way to upload files and share, there is a new site called http://lite.myfabrik.com This site allows you to send emails to friends with a link to the media that you shared without having to create an account.  You can also embed the content into your own website.  It will play videos, picture slideshows, filmstrips, and display pictures.  It is really easy to use.  I love it.

 Check it out.

question??
