Import links from bookmarking services...

Hi all,

I just started playing with Otavo and its a pretty cool concept.  Someone started a quest that I have a lot of helpful links on Del.icio.us for.  But I don't want to have to cut and paste all the info from each link into the quest.  Can you provide an easy way to import links from bookmarking services like Del.icio.us?  It would be nice if it could retain the tags, title and description that you assigned it there as well.  It would save a lot of time and potentially encourage more participation.

Thanks!

No one likes this idea?

I have so many bookmarks on Del.icio.us that could potentially help on quests, but I don't have hours to open each one in a new window, click on the floster, copy or paste my description and tags in, close the new window, rinse, repeat...

Surely a large part of the audience here on Otavo all already keep their own collection of useful links or they wouldn't be drawn to this service anyway... Just an idea to make it easier for people to provide a lot more info to quests easily...

it's not a bad idea, but do we want quantity over quality?

i agree that the time required to manually add bookmarks from a service like del.icio.us would be extreme. However, i think an import feature would increase the risk for abuse, to the point where it wouldn't be worth it in the long run. Unforetunately, introducing a "points system" changes everything here - especially since this service is meant to be driven by intention (and quality links) and not just sheer quantity.

I agree...

I whole-heartedly agree....  Having a way of rating the quality of quests and links and then having members who are something like "Consitiant 5 Star" contributers, or something like that....

What about a rating system sort of like amazon.com has, or eBay or a mix of the two??

a rating system

i think they're discussing something like that on another forum thread. but even with some kind of rating system things could get tedious if i were to say, upload my 2500+ bookmarked links into the Otavo system. we'd have to all brace ourselves for floods of new links.

you might have to give out points to motivate people to keep up with maintaining the new rating system. then again, maybe i'm under-estimating the will of the masses. what do you think?
